Quirky Things To See And Do In Nebraska

If you are planning on buying, building or relocating to Nebraska you may be surprised at all the things that the state offers to see and do. There are a huge number of lakes for fishing, hiking and camping and national and state parks are also great to visit and see. The major cities of Lincoln and Omaha have everything you could imagine in a metropolitan setting but they are still relatively small cities, giving you that relaxed, comfortable feel.
Many people don’t realize that the traditional kid’s beverage of Kool-Aid was invented right in the small town of Hastings. The first production of the powdered fruit flavored beverage was in Hastings; however the company itself moved to Chicago the early part of the 1930′s. Today there is a section of the Hastings museum dedicated to Kool-Aid which is a terrific outing for the whole family.
For a really unique day trip a great place to visit is Carhenge, located just outside of Alliance, Nebraska. This is a true replica of the original Stonehenge, just made entirely out of old junker cars and trucks. The monument was built in memory of Jim Reinders’ father and is proudly displayed for all to see and visit on the family land. The cars are all American models and painted a flat gray color, truly a unique American touch to a classic.
